Reason and Brimstone

"We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war. Raise hell." -- Molly Ivins

Scenes from a whale watch

One of the major highlights of our trip was a large school of Atlantic white-sided dolphins following in the boat's wake.  I've never managed to get decent pictures of them before, so these were a particular treat.

One of the major highlights of our trip was a large school of Atlantic white-sided dolphins following in the boat's wake.  I've never managed to get decent pictures of them before, so these were a particular treat.

Our boat passed directly by several flocks of shearwaters, including this sooty shearwater.

I learned a little bit this trip about how to time whale movement and was able to get several realy nice shots of the humpbacks spouting off by figuring out when they were about to start and beginning to shoot just a moment before.  I also got some great shots of the whales diving.

Two of the best photos I've ever gotten of the humpback whale spraying

Storm-petrels are very difficult to photograph from a moving boat, but this time I got some amazing looks at them as they skimmed the water looking for plankton

Common tern and cormorant

Greater shearwater.
